Title: Director of Sales

Our company is a successful, growing 72-year manufacturing company, and is seeking an experienced Director of Sales to lead and oversee our sales department for North America. We are looking for a self-motivated professional with proven managerial experience and an outstanding track record in sales and sales management. Our company is an industry leader, producing conveyor and filtration solutions for machine tool & metal working machine manufacturers and manufacturing end-users across many vertical markets including automotive, oil & gas, medical, agricultural & construction equipment, aerospace, appliance, waste management, and machine shops in the US, Mexico, and Canada. We have a state of the art 100,000 square ft. office and production facility in Mequon, WI. The Director of Sales reports to the President/COO and will be a key member of the Core Team - a strategic team composed of senior managers that sets both short and long-term goals and business strategy, has strong influence over company culture, and serves as the example of the company core values.

The Director of Sales is responsible for managing all sales operations - this includes managing team members while developing strategic sales plans, meeting planned booking and margin goals, and coordinating with our marketing department on lead generation and opportunity tracking. The successful candidate will understand what motivates customers to buy and knows how to tap into those needs and desires in an effective way.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining profitable results through the sales team by directing the activities of OEM and National Sales Managers while developing the team through motivation, counselling, sales/management skills development, and product knowledge training
  • Developing and implementing effective sales strategies and sales methodologies
  • Establish annual sales budgets for all customer and product types
  • Establish meaningful KPI’s for the sales team
  • Develop sales department business plans that include sales revenue, bookings, and gross margin
  • Establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel in major OEM, End User, Distributor, and Reseller customer accounts, including C-suite relationships
  • Assist in the negotiation and closing of agreements with large customers
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics and suggest improvements
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reports and forecasts
  • Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities
  • Stay up to date with new product launches and ensure sales managers/team members are on board
  • Own recruiting, objectives setting, coaching and performance monitoring of sales managers and outside representatives - the role demands a leader with a sharp mind and the ability to coach, advise and motivate, or replace sales representatives to create and maintain a high-performance sales force
  • Expectations for 30-50% travel to mentor lead/mentor sales managers/reps, to improve sales processes, build customer relationships and assist to negotiate/close sales opportunities
  • Organize and conduct sales meetings

Skills/Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a sales manager, managing a high-performance team
  • Knowledge of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • An ability to understand and develop strategic sales plans, and analyze performance metrics
  • Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication, team management, and relationship skills
  • BS degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or relevant field. MBA a plus
  • 8-10+ years’ experience managing a team of direct outside sales and manufacturer’s reps for a manufacturing company
  • Experience selling to large manufacturing companies
  • Experience in the machine tool industry a plus

Salary/Benefits

  • Salary and commissions commensurate with experience

Pay: $140,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
